How to use Inkwell PDF
Inkwell PDF is a private, browser-based PDF toolkit. Most tools process your file locally, right on your device, without uploading it to a server.
Getting started
Pick a tool
Open any tool from the bottom nav (mobile) or sidebar (desktop): Merge, Split, Compress, Sign, or the full list under "More."
Drop in your file
Drag a PDF (or image, for Image ↔ PDF) into the dropzone. Most tools work entirely in your browser, so nothing leaves your device unless you use a tool that needs the cloud — like Chat with PDF, PDF to DOCX, Seal (hosted signing), or Signature Requests (Inkwell Sign) — or a cloud import.
Download your result
Your finished file downloads straight to your device. Merge can also save to Google Drive or Dropbox, and batch mode returns one ZIP.

- Double-check a merged or converted file before deleting your original.
Your data & privacy
Most tools — merging, splitting, rotating, compressing, page numbering, watermarking, quick signing, OCR, adding text, converting images, and adding or removing passwords — run entirely inside your browser, so your files are never uploaded to a server for those operations. Four features are different: PDF to DOCX uploads your pages to a secure AI service to convert them (and they remain in your app storage), Chat with PDF sends only your document's text to an AI service to answer your question, and Seal (hosted signing) and Signature Requests (Inkwell Sign) upload and store your document so recipients can sign it from a private link. You can delete your account — including your signature requests and their stored documents — at any time from your Profile. See our Privacy Policy and Privacy First page for full details.
